A Tribute To My Dad

A Tribute To My Dad
This is one of my all time favorite poems. I wrote it in memory of my Dad, after he had passed away. It speaks of a father who dedicated his whole life to providing for his family on every level. One line in the poem..."Who is that man with the grey in his hair" speaks to how time escapes so quickly, and before we know it we are all older...and looking back at our life. Think about your father, and if this poem expresses the way you feel about him, don't wait another moment to let him know how you feel. He will treasure this gift all the days of his life.

For A Special Niece

For A Special Niece
IF you have a special niece who you have watched grow from a baby to a girl, to a beautiful young woman, this poem will make her feel very special and loved. Sometimes we just don't take the time to say what is in our hearts. This poem will give you the opportunity to do so.

A Message for my Teen

A Message For My Teen

Traveling through those teenage years with your child can be a very difficult journey. This poem aims at communicating your love and understanding to your child, and letting them know that you do understand how difficult things are for them at this time in their lives. Even though it may just be a temporary reprieve, expressing your emotions to your child is a very positive step forward.

Sister-in-law

Sister-in-law
Sometimes, if we are lucky, we marry into a family...and receive as a "gift," a wonderful sister-in-law. When that happens, it is truly magical. When a sister-in-law also becomes a true friend, that friendship should be acknowledged and celebrated. Maybe you have a sister-in-law who you would like to honor. See if this poem works for you! (We also have poems for mother-in-laws, son-in-laws, daughter-in-laws, and brother-in-laws.

Heaven's Door

This poem comes in a male and female version. It addresses the death of a young child. It is hard to find words in situations such as these. Hopefully poems such as this one, serve to comfort the parents in some small way. It is all we have to give them, really. No one can stop them from hurting...but perhaps words such as these can ease their suffering just a little bit. That is really all that we can hope for.

My Other Mother
This poem could serve as a gift for your mother-in-law, but it could also be a gift for someone who was "like a mother" to you. Sometimes, in life, we encounter someone who we just feel "so at home" with. Someone who genuinely cares about us. Someone who is always there for us, no matter what. Can you imagine how touched "that person" would be to receive this in the mail from you. When we touch the heart of someone we love, that sort of gift makes a profound and lasting impression ...one which lives with them forever.

A Mother's Hands

This is one of my favorite pieces. It is the story of how a mother starts off..and how she progresses through her life as a mother. It talks about the different challenges and joys that become a part of her life, and it tells the tale of how quickly children grow. This would be a lovely gift for your own mother, or for a new mother starting out. It is the timeless story of the love and dedication that a mother has for her child.

For My Stepmom

For My Stepmom
I, myself, am a stepmother to two (now grown) children. If you are a step-child, consider giving or sending this to your stepmother. Step-parents have a tough go of it. There are so many times when you just don't know "your place." Often times, there is a built in resentment towards the stepmother or stepfather. I understand that it is natural, given the circumstances, but it is still a hard pill to swallow. As a stepmother, my goal was always to integrate the two families...that is really all that I wanted. In those early years, maybe I wasn't as successful as I would have liked to have been, but as time has passed, things have gotten better. If you do give this to your stepmother, I guarantee you that it will be something she will cherish forever.

You'll Meet Again

You'll Meet Again
This poem is available in both a male and female version. It is a heart-wrenching poem that deals with the sudden and unexpected death of a grown child. Most likely, the child has already moved away from home. It is the poem that you give someone when you just can't find the words to comfort them. It focuses on how much the child was loved throughout his or her lifetime...and how they always knew that they were loved. It was heartbreaking to write it. I wrote it for a friend of mine, whose 28 year old son was struck down by a drunk driver. I know that the poem brought her comfort, and that is what motivated me to write it.
