For My Daughter

Your children fill a huge part in your heart. No matter where they are in life, you can still feel that connection like you did when you first held them. But we all know they have to grow up at some point and I wrote these poems for those moments. Please tell me what you think of this poem!

No bond like a father and his child!

Unfortunately in this day and age it is becoming a "norm" for  families to be fatherless. We hear a lot of people referring to this generation as the "fatherless generation". But there is honestly no bond like a father and his child. If you have a father present in your life, you should show your appreciation for them. "A Father & Daughter" and "A Father & Son", express the bond that they share.
Please comment and share your thoughts! I would love to hear them!

They Deserve It!

One of the most important people that are in your child's life is their daycare provider (If they go, of course). If you have children, you know how difficult it could be at times with them. They are constantly going and going! For those who are not stay at home mother's usually have their children with a daycare. Knowing that they will have a huge impact on your child's life I feel it is very necessary to show appreciation for what they are doing. With that, I wrote a poem that is specifically for them! Check it out, comment and tell me what you think!

True Friendships

This poem was written for those people who have friends that are so close to them that they consider them a sister. There are not a lot of people who you can say "really know you". I find that there is always that one friend who you open up to and let in. They start to know you, sometimes better than yourself. I hope you like this one. Aspiring Poets

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are having a great day, today. I have a few thoughts that I would like to share with all of you who write poetry and dream of one day getting published.  First off, as you can imagine, there are a million poets out there who have the same dream. Since I have been doing this successfully (I make a good living at this) since 1992 I can offer you a few words of advice.
First of all, the audience of readers must be able to relate to your poem.  If you enjoy writing obscure, poems with a lot of imagery, then continue doing what you are doing, but it is highly unlikely that you will every make any financial gain from your poem.
Secondly, don't make your poems too long. I would say that 16 lines should usually be your max.
Readers don't want to labor through something that is much longer than that.
Thirdly, keep it simple. That way you will appeal to the masses. Think about every word you use.
Writing poetry is a great release, and certainly very gratifying, even if you are just doing it for your own satisfaction. So...keep writing! Who knows where your words will take you.
If you would like to view some of the poems I have written, please go to

There you will find hundreds of poems for all occasions, and for all of the special people in your life.
Thanks, Guys!  have a great day, today!!!

Sometimes we can't find the right words to show appreciation for people, especially for your Mom.

This poem was written from a personal place. I know that a lot of people could relate to what this poem is saying. You should always take a minute out to show your mom how much you appreciate her. You can find this poem "Mom" along with others at,

About Me!

Here is my story about how I got to where I am!

It all began, like most things begin, as a dream. The business was started in my basement, while I was still working as a school adjustment counselor/teacher, in the inner city of Springfield, Massachusetts. A job that I held for 24 years. In the beginning, I put in about 70 hours a week, between Genie’s Poetry and my school position. There finally came a time where I had to make a decision between the two careers. So, I dove in, head first, and never looked back.
Our business has grown and grown every day, and I am so thankful that I am able to make my living doing something I really love. Truly, though, if I didn’t have my husband, Rich, by my side throughout all of this, we would not be where we are today. Together we have built a business that has withstood the test of time and has continued to flourish and grow year after year.
And really, the best part of all of this, is that we have had the opportunity to meet and speak with some really wonderful people. Given the nature of our product, our customers tend to be sensitive, loving individuals, and our lives have been enhanced by the personal experiences that they so often share with us. For all of this, we are fortunate beyond measure!
